Sivas is the second largest province in Türkiye in terms of area.

The first settlements in Sivas, which is located between the three valleys formed by Kızılırmak, Yeşilırmak, and Euphrates River, date back to 7000-5000 BC. This ancient city, which has hosted many civilizations in history, made it the capital of the Seljuk State in 1220 and became the provincial center of a large region named "Eyalet-i Rum" under the rule of the Ottomans in 1398.
